Self-Publish Your Ebook with Ebokio
Self-publish your ebook with Ebokio: upload an EPUB or DOCX, get a page in a real digital bookshop, and keep 70–90% of net receipts. Free, non-exclusive.
Self-publish your ebook with Ebokio
Ebokio Publishing is the self-publishing platform behind this bookshop. You upload a finished manuscript as an EPUB or DOCX file, a human reviewer checks the formatting and the content rules, and your book goes on sale as its own product page here on ebokio.com — the same catalog readers browse, buy from, and read in the Ebokio reader. You keep your copyright, the listing is never exclusive, and you earn 70%, 80% or 90% of net receipts depending on your plan, paid to your own bank account in GBP.
It is built for authors who want a real storefront without a gatekeeper: no submission fees, no packages to buy, no rights to sign away. Free accounts can publish up to thirty titles; Premium and Pro add faster review, the AI cover studio, AI metadata, and the AI Author Co-pilot. Start at the Ebokio Publishing portal, or read how publishing on Ebokio works first.
How self-publishing on Ebokio works
Four steps, start to finish. Upload your EPUB or DOCX; the built-in editor produces a clean, reflowable ebook and a downloadable file for buyers, which you can replace at any time. Prepare the listing — title, blurb, categories, keywords, a cover (yours, a designer’s, or one from the AI cover studio), and a price in pounds. Submit for review: a person checks the file and the metadata, typically within four to six working days on the Free plan and under twenty-four hours on Premium and Pro. Go live with a canonical product page carrying structured Book and Product data, an author profile, category placement and a source-visible description, so search engines and AI answer engines can surface the book, and readers reach it through categories, author pages, related-book links and recommendations rather than a single store listing.
What it costs, and what you keep
Publishing is free. The Free plan keeps 70% of net receipts; Premium (£13.99 a month) keeps 80%; Pro (£19.99 a month) keeps 90%. Net receipts are the sale price minus the reader’s VAT (0% for UK readers, remitted by Ebokio) and the card-processing fee — there are no delivery fees, file-size charges or hidden deductions. Each month’s earnings are paid at the end of the month two months later, with a £30 minimum that rolls forward. The pricing page has the full comparison, and the guide to how ebook royalties actually work walks through the maths in pounds.
Where your book is sold — and where it is not
Ebokio is a retailer-platform, not a distributor: books published here are sold on ebokio.com. It is not an aggregator that pushes your title to other stores, and it does not print paperbacks. Because the listing is non-exclusive, most authors run Ebokio alongside wider distribution — the guide to KDP alternatives explains how the platforms fit together, and what to compare on royalties, exclusivity, payouts and reach before you choose.
The Writing Studio
Ebokio Publishing includes a Writing Studio: a planning and drafting workspace where you build a story bible of characters and locations, map the relationships between them, outline in acts, chapters and beats using frameworks such as Save the Cat, the Hero’s Journey, Three-Act, 7-Point or Romancing the Beat, brainstorm with Muse (a chat grounded in your own story bible rather than the open internet), and keep momentum with daily word goals, streaks and focus sprints. You draft on a full-bleed writing surface with your cast, scenes and structure a panel away, then hand the finished manuscript to the publishing flow without leaving your account. The Studio is included with the Premium and Pro plans; Free accounts publish with the full editor and dashboard.
Learn before you publish
The publishing team maintains a set of self-publishing guides written from inside the platform: a step-by-step guide to self-publishing an ebook in the UK, whether you need an ISBN (on Ebokio you do not), how to price an ebook, and EPUB versus DOCX. Every figure about Ebokio comes from the live product; every figure about another platform is sourced and dated.
There are free tools alongside the guides: an ebook royalty calculator that shows net-per-copy on KDP, Kobo, Apple and Ebokio from each platform’s own published rules, and an EPUB checker that runs the checks stores run before accepting a book — entirely in the browser, so the manuscript is never uploaded. The full set is on the toolbench.
